My goal is to provide the user with an easy to use application that can automate the process of using historical volatility to generate a regression model.

This spreadsheet only calculates the historical volatility and does not provide an algorithm to do this, but I would need a few more inputs to create the necessary algorithm.
I would appreciate the help.
The spreadsheet works on the assumption that I have the following files uploaded to the folder:

The worksheet titled “Upload Data” asks for the following (the data will be entered in the range B2:C3, which will be populated by the uploaded file):

The range of dates that you would like to use for your calculations (separated by a comma)
The number of years that you would like to use for your calculation
The file that will contain the data, in this case a text file

Then on the worksheet titled “Calculate” the following values would be placed in ranges that I have labeled.

Now it is a matter of entering the data from the first file and defining the appropriate ranges.
Then the user would place the data for the rows in B4:B5 of the data worksheet, and the data for the columns in B6:B8.
I would then like to be able to define what the starting date and ending date is for your calculations, so the user would simply need to click the appropriate buttons and the appropriate ranges would automatically populate.
Then I would like to be able to put in a reference to the second file that I have uploaded, and be able to specify how many years are being used to calculate the volatility, and I would also be able to change the starting date and ending date to whatever I would like.
I would then run the spreadsheet and it would give me the results.
My issue is that I have never created a program like this before and I do not know what I need to do to make this work.
I was thinking of just looping through the cells in each column and if the cell is not empty, add the contents of the cell into a list, but I’m not sure if that is the right approach.
I apologize for my question being so vague and I welcome any suggestions.

Keyformula Description:
The keyformula macro is a built-in function of Microsoft Excel which allows for the extraction of date and time values from cell references.
The function is of great help when using the macro for finding a sequence of dates/times, since using the keyformula function as a guide can allow the macro to calculate cell references without having to specify the full date range, or even with only 1 or 2 cells.
The macro allows the user to specify the starting and ending dates/times that you would like to extract, or if you only know the row/column number of the cell that you want to extract the date/time from, the macro will calculate the dates/times for you and display them in a message box.
