You could use a global variable for this:
post_id = nil
def edit
post_id = some_posts.id
end
Then, in your route, you can access this with the params[:post_id] you want.
You could also use a module, much like the answer provided by @Curtis.
I have 2 concerns with these options:
Global Variables
You create a global variable and use it in your routes, but how would you want to retrieve that value later? The only option would be to use a global. What if you wanted to make a call to some external source to get the value?
Using a Module
This looks promising because you make a module within your application that could be required. To use the module, you would require the name of the module and call the method from there. Some very simple examples:
