GS1’s tyre and suspension business is being sold to a group led by Japan’s Bridgestone Corp. The bid is the latest sign of consolidation within the industry, which has seen deals involving almost every major tyre manufacturer.

Bridgestone was one of the first manufacturers to push for consolidation in the business by buying another, Michelin North America, in the early 2000s. It followed a similar trend by India’s Apollo Tyres, which bought Goodyear’s significant US operation in 2010.

“We are pleased that Bridgestone continues to invest in its global presence through its ownership of highly profitable businesses and the acquisition of GS1’s business,” Jerome Poupart, chief executive of Bridgestone, said in a statement on Wednesday. “This acquisition gives Bridgestone the opportunity to operate a powerful global automotive business with strong brands and technological advantages,” he added.

GS1 produces tyres and suspensions for cars, including for Mitsubishi Motors and Volkswagen, as well as buses and trucks for Greyhound, which is owned by American transport group Greyhound Lines Inc.

Mitsubishi Motors and American law firm Jones Day advised Bridgestone.

Industry consolidation is likely to continue as manufacturers seek scale to help them deal with rising costs for key raw materials, such as steel and aluminium, and to better manage the carbon footprint.

This year’s recalls involving potentially millions of cars in the US over faulty Takata Corp air bags have highlighted the industry’s inability to tackle safety problems. In the United States, companies such as Ford Motor Co and Honda Motor Co have been delisted from their former mutual funds because they fell short of meeting the federal government’s minimum requirements.

Note

Not all people need a separate design program. InDesign can be used to create and layout pages of web and print projects in Photoshop. You can switch between the Photoshop and InDesign views using the Document Setup toolbar or the inspector (Common InDesign Features).

To do so, on the Home tab’s Drawing Tools panel, click the Inspector icon (the three-square-in-a-square icon) and then click the Document Setup button. Doing so opens the Document Setup dialog box in which you select the view that you want to use.

How To Install Adobe Photoshop Elements?

1. Download the Photoshop Elements installer from the official website.

To create new image, click the menu option, followed by the New dialog. You can use the New Image and Edit tools to create new or modify existing images.

Step 5: Use the Effect Tools

Click on the image on the left and go to filters, followed by the second tab. You can use the tools like Healing, Smoothing, Paint, and Clone to enhance your images.

Step 6: Edit Photos

Click on the image on the left and then right-click on the image. You can use the tools like Rotate, Crop, Mirror and Red-Eye to edit the images.

Step 7: Change the File Type

Click on the image on the left, and then right-click on the image. You can choose from various file types like BMP, PNG, JPEG, GIF and TIFF.

Step 8: Open Files

To open multiple images, click the plus sign and scroll down to select the number of images. Once you have selected the files, click the Open button to open the selected images.

You can either save the image, or close the program window. To save the image,

In the latest news, the Willits Pomo Fishing Tournament is returning on Sunday, August 24, for the first time in the last several years. They will also be the first time the tournament is going to be held on Saturday instead of Sunday.

Anyone is welcome to participate in the tournament and there is no cost to the event. Willits Sports Association has created a sign up sheet for the event on their website.

The cost of the event is $10 per person. You can sign up at “www.willitssports.org” and it will be in your email. There is a list of questions to be answered and the entry fee is non-refundable.

Participants need to pre-register by August 23, 2015. The volunteer on duty at the tournament will be standing by the big boats at the event to answer any questions that you may have.

Applications for race judges were due on June 7, 2015 and will be available at the Willits Municipal Building, at the Willits Chamber of Commerce Office, and at the High School.

Pituitary tissue transdifferentiates into mature adipose tissue after age.
The prevalence of obesity is increasing worldwide and the mechanisms by which adipose tissue develops are not yet understood. Therefore, the mouse pituitary gland was chosen as a model for studying the hetero-transdifferentiation of mature adipose tissue in response to adipogenic signals. Pituitary tissue from 21-day-old mice was cultured in the presence of 3T3-L1 conditioned medium and 10% fetal bovine serum. The subsequent differentiation of pituitary cells into adipocytes was monitored by measuring lipid accumulation and mRNA expression of adipogenic markers. In vitro differentiation of pituitary cells towards the adipocyte lineage was associated with the presence of genes encoding proteins that regulate adipogenesis in adipocytes. Pituitary cells demonstrated an induction in preadipocyte and adipocyte-specific genes, including the transcription factors, CCAAT/enhancer binding protein (C/EBP) alpha and peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor (PPARgamma). Interestingly, we observed an upregulation in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER) resident-specific protein GRP78 in differentiating pituitary cells. Moreover, we demonstrated that pituitary cells accumulated triglycerides at similar levels observed with the mature adipocyte cells. Thus, we show the hetero-transdifferentiation of mature adipose tissue. Applying Photoshop: Making Images Obvious

To make images “obvious,” Photoshop uses layer masks, adding and subtracting filters on a layer, to build up or subtract from an image. These layers can be modified, blended with one another, and edited with transparency.

Make an Image Less Obvious

To make an image less obvious, use the Blur or Gaussian Blur filter to smooth out jagged edges. Use the Dodge or Burn filter to “lift” a neutral image. Make a satin finish with the Refine Edge filter, remove shadows with the Dodge or Burn filter, or bring up the contrast of an image with Curves.

Enhance an Image’s Details

You can add and change details with the Healing tool in the Adjustments panel. Or, you can change contrast with the Levels tool or brightness with Levels.

Enhance an Image’s Shadows

To make an image’s shadows stronger or less pronounced, use the Dodge or Burn tool. When you use the Dodge tool, use an Exposure setting of 0%, which makes shadows blacker and brighter objects lighter.

Brighten an Image’s Highlights

Use the Exposure or Levels tool to brighten the highlights in an image, making objects look brighter. Exposure settings of 0% or 100% make the entire image brighter and darker; 100% brightens only the object, while 0% brightens the object and the shadows.

Add Effects

You can add effects using layers. For example, if you wanted to add a watermark to an image, you would create a new layer and then type in a watermark as text.

You can also layer images, such as placing a photo over a patterned background or a photo over a colored one. You can also use one photo as a background for another, such as placing a photo on a wood or metal background.

These layers work with transparency, so you can watch the color of the photo underneath. In a situation like this, where you’re aiming for a specific look, it’s usually best to build the image up layer by layer, making minor alterations as you go.

Let’s begin with the installation process.

Installing

We’ll begin with the installation of the software on our Windows PC.

The program will not run unless you have Photoshop installed.

Close all the programs that are running on your computer.

Most of the programs that we use require Microsoft Windows.

Download the Photoshop Elements by clicking here.

In the installation wizard, press the “Next” button.

Follow the on-screen instructions and complete the installation.

It may ask you to reboot your computer.

When the installation is complete,

Open Photoshop Elements, the program you just installed and you will see Photoshop Elements for the first time.

Photoshop Elements Editor for Windows

The interface is very similar to Photoshop, but quite different and with its own features. To access the main features you can minimize and maximize the window by clicking on the top right corner.

The interface of the program is divided into two parts, the interface layer and the editing layer.

The interface layer has been designed to show images with an interface that is very similar to Photoshop.

In the editing layer there are a number of tools and functions that can be used to edit or create images.

If we go to the File menu

We can create new documents from existing images or from blank document templates.

When we create a new document we have three options:

Save the document with the current settings; Save the document with the new settings; Save a copy of the document.

High-Quality mode helps us to improve the quality of the image by up to 100%, so that the image looks very sharp and clear. This option can be useful when we want to edit a photo that we can not adjust visually.

Cathedral (Rogers, Arkansas)

The Cathedral of Saint Joseph is a parish church of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Little Rock.

History
The Catholic community of Rogers, Arkansas was founded in 1880. The first church was located on Burgin Avenue, across from where St. Leo’s Hospital stands today. In 1890, the first church was moved from Burgin Avenue to Main Street in Rogers. The second church was built by the congregation of St. Patrick’s Church in Little Rock. In the 1930s, the construction of the new cathedral began. It was completed in May 1938. The cathedral was originally dedicated to the Nativity of Mary, but was renamed for Joseph in 1962. In 1968, a convent and rectory were built next to the cathedral to house the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Parishioners
The Cathedral is the primary church for the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Little Rock. The Cathedral also serves as the home for the Sisters of the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Mongoose – Schema how to remove duplicate objects on a collection

I have a Mongoose (MongoDB) collection of about a million objects. And I need to remove duplicate objects (as in 10,000 or so). I’m using the Mongoose populate method.

I wanted to know if there are any methods that I missed to use?
If yes, how can I apply them to my script?

The other method I used before this one was to have a unique index and remove the duplicates while querying. This solution was pretty slow as well.

Fully working proxy server using only apache and winbind?

I’d like to keep using Windows and run a proxy server for my work, but I’m not allowed to have access to a Linux server. My university uses a separate “proxy” workstation that is Linux, but it’s at someone else’s beck and call. Does anyone have experience with either apache or Apache and Winbind on Windows?

You can run Apache and Winbind on Windows (any version of Windows). The winbindd service will talk to NIS/YP on Linux servers, so your Windows workstation will be the filter for the other systems in the network.
You don’t have to set up any special Apache config or anything to route all your incoming and outgoing requests through the proxy server, unless you don’t want the proxy server to process data or something.

Layers can be manipulated individually or merged to produce a new composite image. You can cut, copy, paste, paste in transparency, erase, or even apply a filter. You can get out of Photoshop and into Photoshop by using the Bridge module.

Adobe Photoshop Basic Considerations

A layer is a master image that is used as a working medium for your designs and images. Layers are individual images that contain pixel information. A layer’s opacity is key to its effects. The opacity controls whether or not an image is visible.

Filters change the way the image appears, giving a different feel and look to it. Most filters effect a small area of the image. One such filter is the Watermark, which will insert a watermark into your image.

There are different types of Layers. A solid Layer will retain its pixel information, while a transparent Layer allows you to see the image below it.

You can manipulate a Layer, making it larger, smaller, or even higher resolution. You can add shapes and text to the Layers.

All these things can be done with a Layer, but you must understand that all the previous changes are on top of the Layer, which means they will be erased. You may want to save time and make a constant adjustment.

You should save your work frequently. If you accidentally delete a Layer, you will lose all the layers you created on it.

The Photoshop Elements interface is not as clean and functional as Photoshop’s one. Elements’ interface is not only less attractive but also some of the functions aren’t displayed on the screen. There’s also no Undo or Redo option. Photoshop Elements doesn’t have an option to hide the desktop.

Unlike Photoshop Elements, the desktop doesn’t have an option to create a New Document, New Layer, etc. It can only be created in File -> New.

If you’re an amateur photographer or a hobbyist, you might find Elements to be a lot more user-friendly. It allows you to use a separate workspace that contains layers and properties in any set of files you’d like. This way, you can edit your images at ease.

However, if you’re a web designer or a graphic designer, it would only benefit you if you’re familiar with Photoshop. It might be too much for you to learn how to use Photoshop Elements for editing images.

Elements allows you to export images in JPG, JPEG, PNG, GIF, TIF and BMP.

Image Quality

If you’re dealing with JPEG images, Elements will be able to give you an option to print your image at 300 dpi (dots per inch), 300 dpi, 600 dpi, 600 dpi, 900 dpi or 1200 dpi. However, if you’re dealing with PNG or GIF images, your only option is to print your image at 300 dpi, 300 dpi or 600 dpi.

Image Adjustments

In Elements, there are different ways to enhance your image before you print it. You can blur, sharpen or enhance the sharpness, brightness, contrast and/or saturation.

Adjust Image Size

Elements allows you to resize your image to a width of 72 dpi, 120 dpi, 144 dpi, or 200 dpi. You can also change your image size with an option that reads “Aspect Ratio”. You can also crop your image by its width or height. However, you can only crop your image in its horizontal or vertical dimension.

Adjust Image Levels

Image levels helps to change the shadow, midtones, highlights and detail. You can adjust the levels of a selection or an image using the Levels

Photoshop CC and Elements are the same tools, they are just two different versions.

Digital image editing has become increasingly popular, and it’s a simple process for most, thanks to the use of tools like Photoshop and Elements. Photo editing allows you to remove blemishes, change colors, lighten or darken, tone down or enhance the image. You can use these tools for the many purposes for which they were created:

• To touch up or repair the image after printing it and finding out it’s imperfect.

• To create special effects or composites from one image into another.

The trick is to learn the software by exploring a range of tutorials. For example, a simple tutorial on how to replace the photos of a credit card with ones of a different credit card holder would be able to prove useful. This tutorial won’t replace professional guidance, but it could provide useful advice and be adopted as a step in learning the basics.

You can easily find tutorials at the many Photoshop software- and web-based resources, such as Adobe.com.

Converting Files

The process of converting a file from one format to another is very easy to do in Photoshop. You can convert, for example, a JPEG file to a TIFF file format and vice versa, or convert between RAW and JPEG formats. Photographers may be interested in converting between RAW and JPEG, because the RAW format will preserve the maximum detail in the captured image, but it is a lossy format that produces files with a lower image quality in comparison to a TIFF.

Many of the file formats that you commonly use are supported and can be converted, including.jpg,.png,.tiff,.gif,.tif, and.psd, Photoshop’s native file format.

Here’s how to easily convert between formats:

1. Select the image that you want to convert from one format to another.

2. Choose File⇒Save As.

This opens the Save As dialog box.

3. Navigate to the location on your computer where you want to save the file, and then click the file type you want.

The User Interface

Let’s start with the basics. The interface is very clean. It’s a few icons in a box at the bottom of your screen.

The box in the bottom right has a few tools that include a pencil, paintbrush, eraser and a slice tool that’s used to zoom in or out.

When you click and hold a tool, it will give you a handy shortcut menu with common actions that the tool can perform.

To navigate around, you have arrows on the top right and left sides of the window.

There’s a fill icon that can be used to fill in a color on an image. You’re presented with a color palette that includes a few predefined colors that can be used in the image.

If you click the file format dropdown, you can use one of the various image formats which are shown as thumbnails.

If you want to use multiple files, just click on them once and they’ll all appear in the editor. To export them, click on the export icon.

Importing images is also pretty easy. Click on the folder icon and select which folder you want to import. Click on the folder and you’ll be given a new window with your photos. Click once on a photo to open it in the editor.

The editing interface is very simple. You can use tools like paint, pen and so on, but some of the other options require a few button clicks to change the layer attributes.

It does include some pretty cool filters and overlays, but they need to be enabled in the options.

The Eraser is an essential tool used to remove unwanted areas from an image. For example, you can use it to remove the background of an image or remove objects from an image.

In most cases, when you create a brush, Photoshop will automatically create several different types of brushes, such as soft, hard and stroke. However, you can also type the number of points you want. You can also change the size of the tip. If you are working with just one point, and have a large area of the same color, you can easily use the Magic Wand to select the area.

The next step is to use a Photoshop filter or to select a shape to apply the filter to. You can use shape masks, ellipse masks, gradient masks and artistic masks.

The last step is to choose a brush in the Brush menu. You will see different options to choose from.

The brushes you create are saved on the Brush menu as Photoshop brushes. You can use the brushes you created for any of Photoshop’s brushes, pens or filters.

Photoshop brushes vary from standard to Photoshop-specific. Using them requires a certain amount of experience to use effectively. When you create a new brush, you have the option to create a Type, Dotted, Dashed, Gradient or Gradient Desaturate brush.

Creating a custom brush requires some know-how. Here are some tips for creating a custom brush:

Use Photoshop’s Live Paint feature to create a custom brush.

Create custom shapes that include multiple colors.

Select a shape from a live image, and set its colors for every color.

Change the size of the brush to any size you like.

Remember that the brush tip will not have any effect if you have a fuzzy mask.

Clone Stamp and Healing Brush
Have you ever accidentally touched up a patch of pixels and accidentally changed the original? Photoshop’s Clone Stamp and Healing Brush features can help to even out small changes to images so you can undo them and get back to where you were.
The Clone Stamp is a brush tool that, when activated, allows you to select a portion of your image that’s been edited, and copy pixels from that area of your image into another area of your image. The result is a new copy of that portion of the image, which can be used as a patch to undo the changes that were made to the original image.
The Healing Brush is a different brush tool in that it is an eraser. It has the same functionality as the Clone Stamp, but it allows you to erase an area of pixels rather than copying from a different area. To select the pixels to be erased, simply move the brush over the damaged area of the image and click and drag to erase.
Layers
Photoshop has layers, which are a way to organize and manage artwork. By default, images have one layer. When you create a new image, the original image’s layers are all still there, but you can add, delete, or modify them and save your edits to the layers as you want. By creating new layers you can not only separate your edits from the original image, but you can also further organize your image by stacking them one on top of another, essentially creating a new document and working in that new document.
Custom workspace
With custom workspaces, you can save and organize your tools and preset options. Creating a custom workspace lets you store the tools you use most often, like the Clone Stamp and Healing Brush, in a single folder that you can access from the tool bar and the Swatches panel.

You can move pixels in an image to create a new channel. This allows you to create a new object or edit an area of an object in an image. You can

How to Open Photoshop

The Photoshop editing interface has many ways to open files. In the File menu, click Open to open an image, select Open from a File menu, or browse to the image in a location of your choice and select Open.

You can also use the keyboard shortcuts CTRL + O or use the icons in the upper left corner of the image to select files.

How to Use Photoshop’s Interface

The Photoshop editing interface consists of a window containing a workspace and an image to be edited.

The large workspace contains a blank canvas to create and edit images, and the document window is where you view your work in progress. You’ll start by creating a new document, then you’ll create layers, and lay them over your document, finally you’ll use the various selection tools and the brush to paint and edit your artwork.

In Photoshop, there are two ways to access the layers palette:

On the top-left of the window, click Layers from the Layer menu, or on the palettes below the toolbar, click the Layers palette icon.

The image window is where you’ll view your image. Before you begin editing, you should set up your workspace by clicking the Default Workspace menu item at the bottom left to clear out the workspace and its tools.

Click the layer tool icon and use the tool tips that appear for each tool to learn more about its features and functions.

How to Create a New Document in Photoshop

After you have created a new document, click the New Document icon to open the default workspace. To open a new file, click the File tab in the top of the Photoshop window and click New. A new document appears in the workspace with the default color profile.
