My own solution (thanks to the comments from the OP and @PKmorin) for fixing the installation problem of DarkSpy Anti-Rootkit on Ubuntu 12.04, and its ability to detect Rootkits on Windows systems, is to install xrootd first.
In short:

Easily found in the Ubuntu Software Center as root (which is very handy), and in the Ubuntu Software Centre as a normal user (albeit not as user friendly as the latter).

Mainly the main website is down or hardly working and when it is up, it’s a great idea, but if you click on a link and there is no page load or the page loads but it’s just blank, then the program isn’t even installed. A second problem is that with latest versions of Windows where anti-rootkit utilities are required the user is prompted to accept DarkSpy as part of the Windows 10 update.
