Equipped with the right applications, a computer can be of great help in virtually any domain of activity. When it comes to designing and precision, no other tool is as accurate as a computer. Moreover, specialized applications such as AutoCAD give you the possibility to design nearly anything ranging from art, to complex mechanical parts or even buildings.
Suitable for business environments and experienced users
After a decent amount of time spent installing the application on your system, you are ready to fire it up. Thanks to the office suite like interface, all of its features are cleverly organized in categories. At a first look, it looks easy enough to use, but the abundance of features it comes equipped with leaves room for second thoughts.
Create 2D and 3D objects
You can make use of basic geometrical shapes to define your objects, as well as draw custom ones. Needless to say that you can take advantage of a multitude of tools that aim to enhance precision. A grid can be enabled so that you can easily snap elements, as well as adding anchor points to fully customize shapes.
With a little imagination and patience on your behalf, nearly anything can be achieved. Available tools allow you to create 3D objects from scratch and have them fully enhanced with high-quality textures. A powerful navigation pane is put at your disposal so that you can carefully position the camera to get a clearer view of the area of interest.
Various export possibilities
Similar to a modern web browser, each project is displayed in its own tab. This comes in handy, especially for comparison views. Moreover, layouts and layers also play important roles, as it makes objects handling a little easier.
Sine the application is not the easiest to carry around, requiring a slightly sophisticated machine to properly run, there are several export options put at your disposal so that the projects itself can be moved around.
Aside from the application specific format, you can save as an image file of multiple types, PDF, FBX and a few more. Additionally, it can be sent via email, directly printed out on a sheet of paper, or even sent to a 3D printing service, if available.
To end with
All in all, AutoCAD remains one of the top applications used by professionals to achieve great precision with projects of nearly any type. It encourages usage with incredible offers for student licenses so you get acquainted with its abundance of features early on. A lot can be said about what it can and can't do, but the true surprise lies in discovering it step-by-step.

History
AutoCAD is now the flagship product of the Autodesk family of design software and design software tools. It has supported the computer-aided design and drafting industry for over 20 years, and is the world’s largest selling CAD product. It was originally developed by the Magics Research Laboratory at the University of Utah. In 1989, Magics was acquired by Autodesk for $140 million.
Autodesk sold the initial version of AutoCAD to companies for CAD jobs, then the software was bundled with AutoCADLT (the licensed edition).
AutoCAD LT is an older version of the software that was distributed by Autodesk to users who did not require the most advanced features of AutoCAD. In 2000, Autodesk announced that the company would be dropping AutoCAD LT and the name of the software would be changed to AutoCAD.
AutoCAD is mainly used in architecture, civil engineering, and mechanical engineering. More recently, it has become the de facto standard for drafting in architecture. AutoCAD is used by virtually every architect and structural engineer in the world. It is also used in the building and construction industry. AutoCAD is also used in land surveying, hydraulic design, and geospatial design.
In 2008, Autodesk launched AutoCAD 360, a desktop application aimed at business professionals and non-architecture designers. Since then, the desktop version has grown significantly in use and AutoCAD 360 has since been renamed AutoCAD 365. AutoCAD 360 was introduced to market in tandem with Autodesk’s release of AutoCAD 2011, which is its first multi-user desktop software to support engineering design. It includes many features that previously appeared only in AutoCAD LT.
AutoCAD 2009 and higher
In 2009, AutoCAD 2009 was released. AutoCAD 2009 is the first version of AutoCAD that can draw solids, which means it can draw objects by generating a mesh. With the ability to draw solids, new types of models are possible, such as a solid with holes. The 2009 version also introduced several other new features.
AutoCAD 2010
AutoCAD 2010, the next major version of the software, was introduced in November 2009. It was available in three different versions:
Home and Student
Professional
Professional with Dynamic Input

*The Centralized Architecture Management solution (CAM), which allows automation of corporate business processes on AutoCAD, is based on the objectARX project.
*A macro scripting language named MacroScript was added in 2006. Macros can be added to the AutoCAD application through the MacroScript. Macros allow complex user-driven programming of AutoCAD or other applications. A list of macro functions can be found at:
## 1.3.2 Precedence Constraints
The most common constraint to a command (subroutine) is that the parent command must be executed before the command can be executed. If a command is specified as a prerequisite to the execution of another command, the command runs before the prerequisite. This is called a precedence constraint. The order of execution of commands is in the following order:
1.
Substitute parent commands
2.
Substitute prerequisites
3.
Run command
When a command uses an action as a prerequisite, the action runs after the command and the prerequisite. This is called an action constraint. A prerequisite that is not in the list of action constraints, or is an invalid command or an action, will fail the command.
An action is only run if it is not on the action list of any of the action constraints in the command, or the parent command is an action. In other words, the action constraint forces the action to run, but only if there are no other constraints or conditions that would prevent it from running.
In AutoCAD commands are coded to process control sets and it is up to the user to ensure that actions are run only when they are required to be. We will show an example here for Autodesk Revit:
The command editor is shown with several relevant constraints:
## 1.3.3 Block Constraints
The Block constraint is a type of command that is run before the execution of a command. These commands are used for system validation, and also to change the selection type of a command. The Block command runs before the command and can be used to change the block that is displayed as a selection method. There are several types of block constraints:

Import the.kdbx file
Open the.kdbx file with the Autocad.kdbx template. The template will be in the Autodesk Autocad standard templates folder.
Save the.kdbx file with a.kdbx file extension.
Save this file on the desktop.
Step 2: Running the.kdbx file
Click on the Autocad.kdbx template.
Click on the New Project button.
In the Open dialog, locate your newly created Autocad.kdbx file and open it.
Your.kdbx file will now be displayed in the New project dialog.
Close the dialog.
Step 3: Modifying the.kdbx file
In the new project dialog, select Change from the View menu.
In the Project view, select an object to change. You can also select an entire view, from bottom to top, to modify.
Change the object as you need.
To change an object at the same time as selecting all objects, or an entire view, select Change from the View menu. In the Project view, highlight all objects (shift-click or control-click the mouse to select multiple objects) and click the Change All button. The objects will be selected at the same time. Then select an object or an entire view to modify.
