The aim of this study was to compare the psychometric properties of the NSI and the HSQ as a basis for selection of the appropriate QOL assessment tool for use in the JESC study. QOL data were collected from the JESC patients, 3 years before epilepsy surgery, at baseline and during follow-up visits. The NSI was compared with the HSQ on the basis of factor structure, reliability, and validity for QOL in children and adolescents with epilepsy. The NSI demonstrated adequate factor structure, internal consistency, and convergent and discriminant validity in the baseline sample. The results of these psychometric properties were confirmed in the longitudinal cohort. There were no significant differences in the QOL scores for the NSI and the HSQ. Overall, the NSI is a valid and reliable assessment tool for measuring QOL in children and adolescents with epilepsy.Q:
