Hi,
I installed advanced sound notification, and everything works fine, except for the incoming mail sound. It is sounding like incoming email sound, instead of the one set in the properties.
It does work with the other ones, but it’s just a little distracting to have a sound every time something comes in, instead of only when the email arrives. Maybe there is an option to change the sound, so that it’s only played for the mail, instead of every notification?
I have just updated to the latest version, 2.3.0-2.
For all other notifications, sound alerts work fine, so I’m not sure what’s wrong with just the mail sounds.

I’ve actually done more work on the sound notifications than I’d planned.
When I first got the idea of implementing sound notifications I intended for there to be two different sound options.
One that could be set to a momentary on and off sound, like a light switch.
And one that could be set to different sound files, so that a particular sound is played for a specific event.
Since then I’ve decided to just go with the first option. The sound notifications just aren’t really useful if they’re always played or never played.
On the other hand, I decided to play all of the sounds on a slight delay, so that you’ll hear all of them that come in at the same time.
So if you’d like to hear what sound is being played at a particular time use the “Set Notification Timer” option.

Don’t know about what to say about it but I am having a “stuck” period with the notification system, everytime the logs get rotated…and the notify-osd application does not update the configuration files…for that matter,it does update the config files but there are no updates when the events are processed, it just seems they are rolled over and left.
What happens to the messages stored in the qlog, qlog2 and the config files, are they kept there for some time? The config files must be very important for the app to work, can you say how long they are kept?
I am not using any plugins, so I can’t help you with that.
They are kept for some time, about one hour I guess. The configuration files are removed and the new notification handler is started.
There was a discussion about the automatic deletion of the qlog files because they are not needed anymore, I am going to look into that, it should be easy to implement.
I don’t know if someone knows. But I’ve noticed (and I don’t know if this is really a bug) that when I upgraded to 2.7.9 from 2.7.7, my notification sounds no longer play. I get
error=audio_unit_not_found. Do you know if this is a bug or if there is a work around?

First – sorry – this is just a thought. I have had notifications notifications play with Flash and with desktop notifications and I haven’t been able to play them with the new system. My fear is that it is trying to play them in a script, and it can’t find the script.
